My husband and I met in Florida back in the summer of 2001.  We started dating in December of that year and married in May 2003.  We had a beautiful wedding at Pine Island beach near Spring Hill, Florida (because of our love for the beach) and a stunning reception at a place called Palace Grand (I wanted the place because of the glass elevator).

We take a more photojournalist approach to weddings, because we like to capture your special day as it unfolds.  To tell the story of the day you have been dreaming about.   To start, if you like, we will be there while you get ready.  For the bride getting those pictures of makeup touch ups, hair getting put up, dress and shoes before you put them on and more.  For the groom we will be there for cuff links getting put on, putting on the tie, relaxing with the groomsmen and more.  The ceremony we will follow your story, getting the grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time, showing the bride looking at her groom during the vows.  Every step of your wedding ceremony even the emotions your parents are showing that you didn't get to see because it felt like it was only the two of you there.  After the ceremony we like to spend at least 30 minutes getting some group shots followed by just the two of you for 10-15 minutes. Then at the reception we again go back to the "let the story unfold" approach.  We may stop you and tell you that looks great, can you hold that I want to take another picture to make sure we got that.   Our goal is to get the favorite portraits that everyone wants (group shots) and try to make it fun, not stuffy.  Casual groupings where we hope everyone will feel relaxed and be natural.  We also want to capture what you remember and what you didn't get to see.   We would love to be your wedding photographers.

Congratulations, you're getting married!!!! My name is Olivia, I would like to tell you a little about us (my husband, Josh, and I).

My husband and I met in Florida back in the summer of 2001.  We started dating in December of that year and got married in May 2003.  We had a beautiful wedding on the beach in Florida and a stunning reception at a place called Palace Grand.

Here is our grand entrance in a glass elevator:

In 2005 I opened Olivia Williams Photography.  I had wonderful clients, following the families from maternity on or from toddler age until school age. When friends got married I would think about wedding photography, talk to the wedding photographers. Watch as they worked. Sometimes, if they let me, I followed them to see how they worked. Being an artist, the whole wedding I could see great photo opportunities, would think I can do this, but to tell you the truth it scared me at first.

We went on a vacation to the Dominican Republic in 2006 and met a wonderful young couple. They found out I was a photographer and the next thing you know I was a second shooter at their wedding. I loved it so much!

There is something about capturing the unforgettable moments of a wedding. How it feels to be telling the love story of a couple with each photo is something that can't be truly explained. The love just radiates off the bride and groom and spills out into the room. After 3 years of telling love stories together in Florida, Josh got a transfer with his full time job and we moved to Sturbridge,Massachusetts.

We like to take a more photojournalist approach to weddings, because it tells your story as it unfolds.  If you like, we will be there while you get ready. Getting those pictures of makeup touch ups, hair getting put up, final buttons on the dress and more. Don't forget about the groom, we will be there for cuff links getting put on, putting on the tie, relaxing with the groomsmen and more. During this time we also like to get group shots done of the Bride with her bridesmaids and the Groom with his groomsmen.

Our goal is to get the favorite portraits that everyone wants (group shots) and try to make it fun. Casual groupings where we hope everyone will feel relaxed and be natural. We also want to capture what you remember and what you didn't get to see.

  • How long have you been photographing weddings?
My husband and I started our wedding photography journey in the summer of 2006.

  • Do you video tape as well? What other services do you offer?
Yes we can do video along with the photography.  We will set up two video cameras for your ceremony and during important events (like cake cutting and first dance).  We will then combined the video and our photos of your day on a DVD set to music of your choice.  It turns out to be a wonderful music video of your special day.

  • How far in advance do you suggest we book our date with you?
We can accept weddings with as short as 2 months notice, only if we have your day available, but like all things for your wedding day it is normally booked 6 months to a year in advance.
  • Is there a deposit required? If so, how much and when is it 'due'?
We do require a non-refundable deposit of $500.  This is due at your engagement session or if you are not doing the free engagement session it is due 6 weeks before your wedding day.

  • When do you require the final balance to be paid? If on the wedding day, how do you prefer we present you with the final payment? (check in an envelope at the beginning or end of day, etc.)
The rest of your payment is due on your wedding day.  You can pay by check at the end of the day.
  • What is your cancellation policy? Is there a charge? How far in advance can we cancel without a cancellation fee?
You can cancel any time before your wedding with no cancellation fee, however your deposit will not be refunded.
  • How long after the wedding will it take to see our proofs and receive our albums (or whatever is included in the package)?
Your proofs will be on a private online gallery within 2-4 weeks of your wedding day.  From there you pick which wedding photos you would like in your album (if that is the package you picked) and which portraits to print.  Prints take up to 2 weeks, albums can take 6-8 weeks.
  • Do you have a portfolio of previous weddings?
Yes, I have some portraits in my studio for you to look at.

  • Do you personally shoot my wedding or will there be someone else doing it? Will there only be one person shooting the wedding or more? If yes, can I see a portfolio of their work?
My husband and I will be your wedding photographers.  Our work is combined on this blog and in our print portfolio.

  • Will I be able to meet both of you before the wedding day?
Yes you can meet us before your wedding day.  It helps us know what you two are like so we can capture your personalities.  We like to meet up once to discuss how you would like your day captured, then again for your free engagement session finally for your rehearsal so we get an idea where we will need to be to capture the best portraits of you two during your special day.
  • Do you take one kind of shot, specifically or can you mix different styles (i.e. candid shots, journalistic shots, formal portraits, etc.)
We do a mix of all of those styles but lean more towards the journalistic shots.
  • Do you retouch photos?
Yes we will retouch your photos to remove skin blemishes and whiten teeth. However if you would like someone removed from the portraits you would like to order there will be an editing fee, price of that type of editing is not included and price will vary.
  • Approximately how many pictures will be shot throughout the day?
For an average wedding we will shot (between the both of us) about 2000 photos.  After we go through and find the best of the best,  your gallery will have around 1000-1500 photos.
  • Do you offer any digital or Internet services? Are they separate or included in the packages? (i.e. an online wedding album so people can see your proofs and they can even order online, etc.)
You will have a private password protected online wedding gallery. You can share that password with anyone you would like. If they would like to place their own order they can.
  • Can we buy the digital negatives (CD) of the wedding?
Yes you can, prices vary depending on how many portraits will be on the CD.

  • Do you have a price list for all the reprint sizes available?
I will give you the reprint price list with your prints.

  • Do you charge a travel fee?
We do charge a travel fee if your wedding is more than 75 miles from the center of Sturbridge, MA.  We charge $5 a mile, for travel time after the 75 miles.
  • Do you only shoot in color or can you shoot color and black and white? If you do shoot in black and white, what percentage of the pictures will be in black and white?
We shoot in RAW digital format so all images can be changed to black and white format upon request.

  • Is there a minimum order requirement when ordering prints or reprints?
There is no minimum order required.
  • Do you like to be included in the dinner?
Yes we do, photographers need to eat too!  We like to be one of the first tables up there so we are done eating around the same time as you so we can start to follow you around to get photos of you greeting your guests.

  • Do you have a selection of albums to choose from? How many pictures can fit in each album? What is the cost? Can they be personalized on the front to display the wedding date and names?
All our albums have custom photo covers so we can have any information on the cover you would like.  These albums are press printed albums number of photos vary from album to album.
